Untricking Yourself
What Stupid Motivational Tricks really is about is untricking yourself. In other words, reversing the stupid ways you've tricked yourself into not getting things done by being so busy working at not working.
I like this way of putting it. It's much better than saying that you've found a great new way to trick yourself into writing something. It's people who write seriously, deliberately, without trickery that get the work done. Tricks of the trade, not tricks of the soul.
Yes, but it has taken me a while to get to the point of untrickery. I've been thinking I needed to trick myself into writing, when actually what I need to do is untrick myself out of not writing.
