  1. Thanks for this, don't know when I last listened to Hines. Definitely fun, though I find parts corny (not talking about the mugging for the audience, I mean the music e.g. at 2:45).

    I'll raise you the Monk solo version. Now this I could probably execute myself note for note, unlike Hines....what I lack is the imagination.

  2. I thought it was pretty tasteful--most of the way through. I like the separation in style between each chorus, and the fact that the showy stuff came after he had played it more straight and tastefully for a while.

    The Monk version is wonderful too. What I like is that Monk's playing is rooted in the playing of Hines's generation.
