I think everyone serious is an autodidact. You cannot learn enough simply from the materials presented in classes. You have to read 100 times more than that. I didn't learn a lot from most professors I've had. It's not necessarily a knock on them, though. I still don't think I have read enough.
My best classes in college were mainly the best because of the materials and having instructors that didn't get in the way of one's seeing them.
ReplyDeleteI also had classes from some very famous, brilliant lecturers and liked them, but what I learned wasn't the material as much as the way of showing you how they were working out ideas.
