Answer emails promptly, but well. Be firm, direct, and exceedingly polite. Consult with relevant on anything major, just follow best policies on minor issues. Project confidence.
I might change "promptly, but well" to "promptly and clearly." Anything the least bit confusing or ambiguous will be amplified, disseminated, and remembered. Not a problem you are likely to have, of course!
