Practice

Suppose I was already good at piano, then I would have to practice two hours a day to maintain my skill, so it stands to reason I have to play two or more to gain the skill in the first place.

There is that joke:  I don't practice for a day, I know it.  I don't practice for a month, my audience knows it.  I don't practice for a year, the critics know it.
